Intro in to my Adult Life
I just recently celebrated my 24th birthday and just as it dawned on me that I have almost reached the halfway mark of my 20's, I also came to the realization that I have accomplished quite a bit in these last few years!
I am extremely hard on myself as a person. I constantly get down on myself for not reaching my goals, when in reality, along the way I have learned so much that has better prepared me for life down the road. I moved all the way to Los Angeles immediately after college, with absolutely no experience in my life. I went to Florida State University in Tallahassee, FL (GO NOLES BABY!) where my family actually lived during that time. So, while everyone was seemingly experiencing true freedom and responsibility, I was still eating dinner out at my parents country house down the road.
Now don't get me wrong, I LOVE my family, especially at meal time. My father comes from a Cuban/Spanish family and my mother learned to cook in the kitchen with my abuela, so these meals were worth the drive out of college town. Nonetheless, I sort of got a late start on truly taking care of myself and managing my own life.
Flash forward 4 years and I am in Los Angeles, living in an Airbnb completing my fashion internship at a small local brand geared toward high school and college girls who still wear a size 24. I had zero cooking skill, had a credit card that I thought my magic fairy godmother would one day pay-off, and I was living off of $10 an hour. To say I had anxiety is the understatement of my life.
Luckily, I got a cooking subscription for graduation (greatest gift of my life), my boyfriend attended UCLA Law School just down the street, and I eventually worked hard enough to earn a raise at work and become a full-time permanent employee. Basically, I started to get my shit together.
This blog is meant to inspire/help others who may be on this same journey, or who may just need to laugh at another millennial with a love/hate relationship with their 20's. I want to share my successes and my failures so hopefully they can guide others and tell a damn good story some day.
Welcome to my blog where I will explore fashion, home decor, adult-hood tips, and home cookin' all targeted for my fellow 20-somethings [or those who are 20 at heart ;)] !
